Give Yourself A Break. Rest.

Rest. How seldom we speak this word in relation to ourselves. Yet, it is this awareness of our own need for rest that enables us to give the best of ourselves to others. This holiday season I want to encourage you to invest in rest. Self-care!

Acute fatigue impacts our cognition and without rest we risk burning ourselves out to the point of becoming unrecognisable in our actions and thoughts.

We’ve lived through a year that none of us expected, like a plane caught in turbulence. We are spent in all aspects of our being. We need to set aside some solid “me-time”. A time to rejuvenate the core of our being in silence. Letting go of the noise around us in order to still the voices inside of us.

When we allow ourselves to rest, we open ourselves up for the peace that is needed to process and reflect in silence. In the words of Rumi, “the quieter you become, the more you are able to hear”.

This holiday season be encouraged to allow yourself to hear the silence as you process and reflect upon the turbulence of 2020 that also brought with it much to be grateful for. Give yourself the much-needed time to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.
